Ready, Set, Summer

Tips for Updating Your Home This Season

Even if you don’t spend your summers on Martha’s Vineyard, that doesn’t mean you can’t have that same experience of getting away from it all. Even better, you don’t have to go anywhere. As the temperatures start to rise — and continue on that trajectory until August — here are some tips to quickly transform your home from the everyday to the perfect summer getaway.

Fire up the Grill

Nothing says summer quite like outdoor entertaining. Whether your style is more 'dining alfresco' or 'backyard BBQ', you can achieve your desired ambience with a few simple updates. New seating and cushions will allow your guests to kick up their feet while outdoor string lights and a bar area will help keep the party going long after sunset.

Green Pastures

After surviving the harsh winter months and the rainy spring, your yard could use a little TLC. Show it you care by planting some summer-friendly flora and fauna.

Out to Sea

Even if you don't live near a body of water, you can still enjoy the aesthetics of life at sea by incorporating nautical-themed pieces into your home décor. Turn old-fashioned canoe oars into artwork in your dining room or replace your normal light fixtures with hanging lanterns.

Lighten Up

Bring the summer sunshine into your home with sheer or linen curtains. Kick it up a notch and replace those dated sliding doors with classic French doors, no curtains required.

Dinner Is Served

Just because you're inside, doesn't mean you can't bring the natural beauty of the world in with you. Eat and drink on dinnerware inspired by Mother Nature. Coco Chispa uses the diverse landscapes of California as her canvas to create handmade plates, cups, and more.
