Chris Small
Chris Small was no stranger to Richmond when he visited as a high schooler and decided that this place would be his chosen hometown. He grew up in Suffolk, Virginia and visited the area lots of times during his childhood. But that one trip that made him decide to attend VCU and move to Richmond for good involved a great dinner, an evening at the VMFA and a drive down Monument Avenue. He says, “we drove down Monument just as the sun was setting, and it was bathed in this great, pink light. At that moment, I was hooked.” While Chris was attending VCU, he was already practicing real estate. Having earned his real estate license at 18 years old, he became intimately familiar with the architecture and history of Richmond’s Historic Fan District, his home ever since he arrived in Richmond. And because he
loves to give back to his community, he has been instrumental in many historic preservation and renovation projects, served as Vice President of the Historic Richmond Foundation and has been a member of the architecture review board (CAR). But Chris’s passion for Richmond real estate doesn’t reside solely in The Fan. He knows a lot about many
of the neighborhoods that make Richmond the best place ever.
Chris earned his certification as a historic homes expert from the National Trust for Historic Preservation at a very young age. That knowledge, combined with the many years of real estate experience, makes Small & Associates a particularly and uniquely qualified firm that Chris built from the ground up. It’s Chris’s interest in the past that fueled a passion for focusing on the future. By recognizing the value of and adopting new technologies, he and his team stay on the cutting edge of not only Richmond real estate, but on real estate trends in general. And, when you combine the best tools and thought leadership with an unparalleled level of personal service, it’s easy to see why Chris’s clients return to him again and again. “The most rewarding aspect of my career is being able to work with all the people I’ve met through the years - buyers, sellers, agents and anyone who I’ve met during the process of
a real estate transaction. I take great pride in building those relationships and I never lose sight of the importance of a personal touch. This isn’t just my business. This is my life.” Talk to Chris for just a few minutes and you’ll see that real estate is in his blood, and you’ll see that sparkle in his eye when he starts to tell you about a property or a neighborhood. You’ll see the attention to detail that translates into a smooth and successful real estate transaction. During that transaction, you’ll see that Chris’s work ethic and integrity are paramount in his life and in his business. He simply does not quit until he’s helped his clients achieve their real estate goals and desires. If you’re in the market to buy or sell a home in the Greater Richmond area, talk to Chris Small.
